Fees

MSt fee (from academic year 2010–2011) = £4900 (this is the total over 2 years; fees are subject to confirmation)

To this must be added:

  • A College fee (c. £350-450 per annum)
  • You will also need to budget for travel, accommodation and living expenses for the residential part of your studies in Cambridge.

The fees are the same for all students, i.e. UK nationals and overseas students, and also for Track A and B studies.

Financial assistance

Students in both tracks are allowed to work to support their studies. You are also encouraged to apply to the following sources of funding:

  • Scholarships administered by CJCR
CJCR provides several types of scholarships for the MSt:

The first is for track A students and covers all tuition fees, accommodation in CJCR student flat and a maintenance grant of GBP 1500 in the first year of study. The second type, available to track A and track B students, represents contribution towards course fees.

    Small bursaries administered by CJCR:
CJCR also administers a number of awards made to students in the second year of MSt. These funds can be used to support their work on dissertations, particularly for travel and other research-related expenses.

If you wish to apply for a CJCR scholarship, you must include a motivation letter along with your application form for the course. This should outline your future career plans and intentions.

  • Additional studentships may be sought from the University Colleges

These can only be sought once you have been offered and have accepted a place on the course and also membership of a college. Early applicants will therefore have an advantage in seeking college funding. Applicants must apply directly to their college if they wish to appeal for funding.<li>

  • AHRC (Arts and Humanities Research Council)
Applications for AHRC funding must be made to the Council directly. Since the AHRC require confirmation of acceptance before allocating funding, those wishing to apply must submit an application for the MSt  to CJCR by 29 January in order to meet AHRC deadlines.

Applications to the AHRC must be sent by the student to the University, following the guidelines on the AHRC website.

  • Students are also encouraged to approach other donors, such as foundations and diocesan trusts, to seek further support.
